1 2 3 4 1000's

A man has to undertake many activities in his life time. How to perform these activities to achieve success? Chanakya says:
  1. Do penance alone.
  2. Study always with one more person as company.
  3. Learn music with three persons with you.
  4. When you are visiting a new place, go with four people. You should have five people for farming.
  5. Go to war with thousands of people.

Raksha bandhan King Porus and Alexander Wife

The ancient reference to the festival of Rakhi dates back to 300 BC at the time when Alexander conquered India. King Alexander of Macedonia also tried to take over the kingdom of the Indian King Porus but he was resisted by King Porus.

Seeing this, Alexander's wife Roxana got worried and the Greek ruler's wife hastily approached King Porus with a rakhi.
As she knew the custom and importance of Raksha Bandhan, asking him not to harm her husband during the battle.

In the nick of time, I'd say, because in the very next battle Alexander fell off his horse and found Porus holding a sword to his neck. A moment later, Porus let him go. He had promised his sister after all.

Hence, she became a sister of his and this is the reason King Porus restrained himself to deliver the final blow to Alexander which would have taken his life.

Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s Chanakya

Project / Management

Spies

Categories And Places Of Deployment For Spies:
  1. Spies can be introduced within fort walls as traders and businessmen,
  2. Used at the outskirts of towns and beyond fort walls in guise of ascetics and religious teachers
  3. Forests ought to be monitored by spies in guise of forest dwellers, although here again Chanakya shows his basic inclusivity by pointing out that forest-dwellers should also be inducted into the intelligence apparatus as serving personnel (Btw, this reminds me of how the initial Kargil alert was apparently sounded by shepherds along the high ranges).
  4. Border spies must be posted and closely monitored for their ability to resist lures of fame, money, honours or women

Past Future Present

We should not fret for what is past, nor should we be anxious about the future; men of discernment deal only with the present moment.

It is true that nobody can change the past. But, some people keep thinking about what happened in the past and end up ruining their present and future. According to Acharya Chanakya, a person who is always worried about whatever happened in the past can never be happy. One should learn from their past and move ahead in life. He says, every person should make sure that he doesn’t repeat the mistakes committed in the past. Staying upset about something that happened will not serve any purpose.

Similarly, people should not get upset about some predictions that may happen in future. Chanakya says, predicting future is impossible and there are high chances that the prophesies may prove false. Hence, a man should not worry about the past or the future and live in the present. Following this principle will keep a man happy throughout his life.
